Mick Schumacher ningunea a Ecclestone
The tycoon advised the seven-time champion's son that he will leave F1, but Mick doesn't intend to listen to him...
Bernie Ecclestone has passed on some (controversial) advice to Mick Schumacher via the Press. The former F1 boss has indicated that the son of the seven-time F1 world champion should leave the queen class of motorsport. He has said it at a time when the 23-year-old German is playing for a position at Haas. Right now, the American team has not decided what to do with him for the 2023 season.
Magnussen's pole leaves him very 'touched'
What hurts Mick is that his teammate Kevin Magnussen is beating him. The German is 16th with 12 points, while the Dane holds double (13th with 24). On top of that, 'K-Mag' has started the Brazilian Grand Prix at an unthinkable level. His unexpected pole position has meant a 'stick' for the '47', which on top of that finished last in the standings. And that at a time when his future is at stake.
The Hulkenberg Option
There is talk that Nico Hulkenberg could be his replacement in the team led by Guenther Steiner. Before the appointment in Sao Paulo, Ecclestone has presented his arguments on 'RTL'. "People have been disappointed with his performance, we don't know if it was because of him or because of the team. But of course it's hard to find someone to put him on a winning team. Because he's not on one at the moment. Maybe Mick needs to forget about F1 and focus on other motorsport series. His name is his biggest burden but he tries to live up to it as best he can.And that's what gets him into all his trouble. So what he has to do is forget about F1 and win in another category."
The opinions that matter to you
But Mick doesn't want to follow this advice. Nothing of that. "My plan is to stay here. It's hard for me to forget F1. I love it too much, so I won't. Everyone always has an opinion on anything. I listen to the opinions of the people I care about. Of course, I pay attention to what my family says. And some other people who are involved in F1. For example, Sebastian Vettel. Those are the opinions that matter to me," he said in a statement collected by 'Bild'.
Haas' decision will not take long to be known. The American team will make public its binomial for the 2023 course before the post-season test (in Abu Dhabi) that is about to conclude. Let's see what happens with Mick...
